Subtraction Bowling

I recently went to the 99 Cent Store (yes, I know, a very dangerous place for teachers), but I found a cheap bowling set there! So I decided to make a bowling worksheet for a center. Students bowl and cross out how many pins they knock down. Then they count the remaining pins. Click on the picture to get a copy.

The Teacher's Pet
On an unrelated teacher side note: I just completed the Tinker Bell Half Marathon at Disneyland! Here's my puggie showing off my medal.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Portraits

The students drew portraits of Dr. King and I think they came out beautifully. We read about Dr. King and discussed how he changed laws through peaceful ways. My colleague gave me simple directions to lightly draw a large oval and where to put the lines to proportion a  face. The students were very proud of how everybody's picture looked similar, yet different. Below is a quick 3 min video on MLK.

Penguin Hand Art

Every month each student makes a calendar with a monthly theme art on top. For January, I decided to make penguins from the students' hand. I simply painted the sides of their hands and had them stamp away. They used a snowflake stamp, markers, and crayons to complete their picture. Easy Peasy (I never in my life said 'Easy Peasy' until I taught Kinder)!

Versatile Blogger! Woohoo!

So I was causally checking my email via phone (because I am one of those who can't live without it), and I saw that Lil' Country Kindergarten awarded me with the Versatile Blogger Award! I WAS THRILLED (still am too)! I saw this award in BlogLand, and now I have one! It's always wonderful feeling being acknowledge by a fellow Blog Buddy (and Lil' Country Kindergarten is AWESOME)!

1. Thank the person who presented the award to you and link back to them.
Thank you so much to Lil' Country Kindergarten. Check out her amazing blog!
2. Tell seven things about yourself.

  • I am an animal lover and am obsessed with my pug! I treat her as though she is a real baby (I know I have issues..no need to tell me twice).
  • As with many teachers, I too, have OCD and am a compulsive addict to containers of any kind.
  • I can't live without my cell phone (I am working on this issue).
  • I'm running the Tinkerbell Half Marathon and hope to simply make it to the end (even if it means crawling to the finish line...I just want that medal)!
  • I went to Harry Potter World when it opened (because I am obsess with HP..in case you haven't noticed, I am 'obsessed' with many things..part of the O in OCD I think).
  • My profile picture is me as a witch from Harry Potter with Doby and a mandrake.
  • I love buying running and yoga clothes and accessories, putting them to good use is another matter.
3. Pass this award on to newly discovered blogs and let them know they've received the award.

Cat in the Hat Mini Centers

I finally completed the Cat and the Hat Mini Centers. It's just a dollar at TeachersPayTeachers! It's my official first item on TPT. (Now I know how hard it is to make these little units.) It has 32 pages for PreK or Kinder Kids.  I would love feedback, so the first 3 people who leave a comments that follows my blog or TPT store, I would LOVE to send this completed unit to you. I only ask for either feedback to help me improve for next time!
